Final Edits Are In the Books!

‘Member when we said “writing is rewriting?” I ‘member.

Two hundred and fifty six pages.

9 action-packed chapters. A killer foreword, a dozen or so super humbling author endorsements, a dedication page, a conclusion, and a game-changing introduction.

43,000 words, give or take.

Thousands of hours of writing and revisions over the course of 16 months, a half a dozen drafts, and at least three different working titles.

Three dozen marathons, half marathons, road runs, and obstacle course races.

Fifty plus escape rooms and class-based “reverse” escape scenarios created from scratch.

Two annual passes to Walt Disney World, renewed on and off annually for a decade.

Thirty six years of research and development, with inspirations ranging from old-school video games played on the couch in a friend’s basement into the wee hours of the morning to 30+ full-length academic treatises read over many a red eye flight shuttling between work on opposite ends of the country.

Five years of instructional coaching close to 200 teachers.

A decade of classroom teaching experience with over a thousand students in two schools and 20 different classrooms.

13.5K educational tweets shared with a teacher network of 5,728 followers.

More than 36,000 miles of travel logged for educational conference presentations given or attended in Houston, St. Louis, Cincinnati, Chicago, New Orleans, Baltimore, Boston, San Diego, Atlanta, Kansas City, Seattle, Washington D.C. and South Bend, Indiana.

And 29 final edits, formally submitted to the layout editors this morning.

He began his teaching career in 2010 as a career switcher through The New Teacher Project, after spending five years working in social media and event marketing.
